Ontario needs to continue to advance the elements of a seniors strategy, as recommended as early as 1978 by the Ontario Council of Health. Based on a number of forecasts, health care costs are expected to rise by more than 4 per cent per year in the coming years. The entire health system needs structural reform for better value for money, as funding alone will not be sufficient to supply the best-quality care Ontarians expect.
