Signal49 Research’s annual report card measures how well Canada is meeting its overarching goal of creating a high and sustainable quality of life for all Canadians by earning high and sustainable grades in six performance categories:
- Economy
- Innovation
- Environment
- Education and Skills
- Health
- Society
In the most recent report card, Canada’s performance improved in one subject: education—moving from a “B” to an “A.” Canada once again receives “B” grades on its economic, health, and social performances; a “C” on environmental performance; and a “D” on innovation. While the “A” on education and skills is encouraging, Canada’s “D” on innovation does not bode well for future growth and competitiveness.
