The Canadian Economic Month at a Glance: December 2016

The most recent set of economic data from Statistics Canada paints the picture of an economy in a period of transition. The headline story for much of the second quarter of 2016 was the damage caused by the Fort McMurray wildfires, which forced the shutdown of many energy projects in northern Alberta and threatened to put the Canadian economy back into recession with a 0.3 per cent fall in GDP.
