While employment edged lower by 6,600 in September, the good news is that full-time employment rose by 37,100. The jobless rate declined 0.1 percentage points to 8 per cent as thousands of Canadian, mainly young people, withdrew from the labour force. Ontario, Saskatchewan, New Brunswick, and Prince Edward Island all recorded job losses in September.
