Integration

Michelle Nguyen is a researcher at the Canada Excellence Research Chair (CERC) in
Migration and Integration program at Ryerson University. She holds a BA in
International Development Studies and History from Trent University and an MA in
Immigration and Settlement Studies from Ryerson University. Before joining the
CERC, she interned with the Migration Policy Research division at the
International Organization for Migration in Geneva, where she contributed to
several chapters of the World Migration Report 2020. Her research interests
include policy and media discourses on migration, migrant agency, Canadian
immigration history, and Vietnamese diasporic communities. She is now working on
research projects exploring migrants’ decision-making on where they live and why
they voluntarily stay for extended periods of time in non-gateway cities in
Canada.
