Natacha Pennycooke is an award winning psychotherapist, Mindset Coach, keynote speaker, workshop facilitator, corporate consultant and CEO of Natacha Pennycooke Psychotherapy (NPP). NPP is a private group practice of therapists who help people struggling with fear and self-doubt from trauma, anxiety and depression, and who have been historically racialized and marginalized in their quest for success, to heal, thrive and live their very best life. Our therapy services are guided from an anti-oppressive, healing focused, trauma informed, anti-racism lens and racial justice framework, to support the mental health needs of individuals, couples, families, and youth 16+.

As a Mindset Shift coach, Natacha believes that understanding the power of the mind is key to unlocking and unblocking our greatest potential. She helps high achieving professionals shift their mindset away from internalized limiting beliefs and fears, and into their power & purpose to create the thriving life they want.

As a consultant, Natacha specializes in facilitating wellness workshops to create awareness, and building mental health strategies for long term change, focusing on the mental health aspects of emotional safety and trust; while addressing the importance of creating an anti-racist environment, of inclusion and belongingness, to support the creation of equitable and sustainable workspace practices.

Natacha has shared her expertise at international and national psychological conferences, and is sought after for her passionate speaking style to speak at various corporate and community events worldwide. Most recently, Natacha presented at the 54th Convention of the Association of Black Psychologists. Natacha has volunteered with a number of community organizations in the Toronto area, is the recipient of the ByBlacks People’s Choice Award for Best Canadian Counsellor of 2020, and was nominated again for the award in 2021.

Education

Natacha is registered with the College of Registered Psychotherapist of Ontario (CRPO) for both independent clinical practice and as a clinical supervisor. She completed her MSc. in Counselling Psychology at the University of the West Indies (UWI) CaveHill Campus (Barbados), and clinical training at the Department of Community Health & Psychiatry of The University Hospital of the West Indies (UHWI) in Kingston, Jamaica. Her master’s thesis explored how the father-daughter relationship impacts self-esteem and fear of intimacy of Caribbean-Canadian Women.

Natacha obtained her BA. in Psychology from Concordia University (Montreal), where she specialized in Cultural Psychology and minored in Biology. Her undergraduate thesis looked at foreign students’ perceptions to interethnic romantic relationships.

Furthermore, Natacha has a certificate in Public Speaking from McGill University, and post graduate training certificates in African centered psychology, Emotional Emancipation Circles, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy.
