Tim Tierney is the City Councillor for Ottawa’s Beacon Hill-Cyrville ward, a role he has held since 2010. Now in his fourth term, Tim has proven to be a dedicated public servant, committed to the growth and development of his community. He currently serves as Chair of the City’s Transportation Committee and is an active member of several key City committees, including the Transit Commission, Finance and Corporate Services Committee, Environment and Climate Change Committee, and the Planning and Housing Committee. Tim has been active in ensuring his community continues to grow and thrive as an integral part of Ottawa. His commitment to Beacon Hill-Cyrville includes many years of supporting and advocating for a variety of local development projects, sports and recreational groups, schools, social services, and community organizations.
In addition to his municipal work, Tim is the First Vice-President of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM), where he has served as the FCM Ontario Caucus Chair for the past decade. His work with FCM has allowed him to contribute to important national policy discussions and collaborate with local leaders across Canada, strengthening his expertise in municipal governance and policymaking.
Tim and his family are long-time residents of Beacon Hill. He and his wife Jenny raised their three children in the community, where his career in municipal politics first began. From hockey association to community association, to City Hall, Tim has enjoyed serving his community over the past few decades and continues to do so every single day. On his down time, Tim enjoys spending time with his family (some of whom live on street), walking his dog Princesse, and rocking out to Nickelback.
