Vivek Sood is Executive Vice President, Related Businesses for Sobeys Inc. and Executive Sponsor for both Empire’s enterprise resource planning and diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. He has national responsibility for the Pharmacy, Wholesale, Fuel, Convenience, and Liquor business units. Having been with Sobeys Inc. since 2000, Vivek is a leader in shaping the company’s vision and mission, contributing to the development and execution of our corporate strategy, focusing on collaboration, innovation, and growth, while influencing corporate culture, values, and social responsibility.

Diversity, inclusion, innovation, developing future leaders, and engaging with community & industry partners are especially important to Vivek. He works to cultivate strong relationships with employees, government and external partners, particularly in the Atlantic region.

Vivek serves as Chair of the Sobeys’ Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Council, Chair of the Human Resources/Governance Committee and the Strategic Planning Committee for the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, Board Governor for Saint Mary’s University, Board Trustee and Chair of the Audit/Risk Oversight Committee for The Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21, Board Director for Black Business Consulting, and Dean’s Circle Member at Dalhousie’s Faculty of Management.

Vivek graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce from Dalhousie University and a Master of Business Administration from Saint Mary’s University. He received his Chartered Financial Analyst Designation from the CFA Institute in 2004. In 2021 Vivek completed the ICD-Rotman Directors Education Program, the leading national education program for experienced board directors in Canada and was chosen Class Valedictorian by his classmates.

In 2020 Vivek was named CEO of the Year by Atlantic Business Magazine – Atlantic Canada’s premiere business recognition for corporate leadership excellence. In 2023 he was inducted into their Business Hall of Fame after being recognized as a top 50 CEO for five consecutive years.
