About
Dr. Alan Chaffe is an Associate Director for the Economic Research team at Signal49 Research. He produces customized economic research for a variety of public and private sector clients. During his time at Signal49, Alan has managed and worked on several economic impact research studies, including projects for the Assembly of First Nations, the Government of Nunavut, the First Peoples’ Cultural Council, Ontario Power Generation, the Investment Funds Institute of Canada, SaskPower, Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan, Indigenous Tourism Manitoba, Irving Shipbuilding, CBRE Canada, the Indigenous Tourism Association of Canada, and the Canadian Marketing Association.
Alan has over 18 years of experience working as an Economist. Prior to joining Signal49, Alan worked as an instructor and teaching professor at the University of Victoria, where he taught a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses for the Department of Economics and the Peter B. Gustavson School of Business.
Alan has also worked as a Senior Economist for Statistics Canada and the B.C. Ministry of Social Development and Social Innovation. His research with these organizations focused on economic impact studies, program evaluations, labour markets, consumer prices, price indexation, and economic forecasting and analysis of the short- and long-term trends in Canada’s domestic environment. Alan has published numerous research papers and chapters in books, and he has presented his research at various conferences, including the Socio-Economic Conference, the United Nations Ottawa Group on Price Indexes, the World Congress on National Accounts and Economic Performance Measures for Nations, and the BC Labour Market Conference.
