Principal Economist, Economic Research

About
Greg Hermus, as Principal Economist, oversees a wide variety of custom research projects undertaken by Signal49 Research. He is also a spokesperson for Signal49 on various topics and policy issues. Greg has produced dozens of economic impact studies for organizations of all sizes and in various industries. He was recently involved in conducting economic impact studies for the Assembly of First Nations, the Government of Nunavut, Irving Shipbuilding Inc., Ontario Power Generation, SaskPower, AtkinsRéalis, the Investment Funds Institute of Canada, Indigenous Tourism Association of Canada, Indigenous Tourism Manitoba, and Indigenous Tourism Alberta.
Greg is the chief architect of Signal49’s proprietary economic impact model. This detailed model incorporates the most disaggregated input-output data available from Statistics Canada. It also can be customized to localize impacts to nearly every geographical area in Canada. Greg has also been involved with the development of Signal49’s econometric forecast models and labour market projections models. Greg was instrumental in developing Signal49’s labour market projection tool, the Model of Occupations, Skills, and Technology (MOST). Not only does MOST generate detailed occupational and industry-level labour force projections for every region in Canada, but it also connects the projected occupations with skills.
