About the Series
This research series provides quarterly benchmarking data, key findings, and trends for areas of interest to HR professionals, so you can compare your organization’s metrics with other Canadian employers in your sector or industry. Benchmarking provides essential context for your KPIs, helping you identify areas of strength and improvement, flag potential issues, plan for retirement, and measure progress over time.
The series includes quarterly Canadian data for both unionized and non-unionized workers, broken down by industry and sector, in the following areas of interest:
- involuntary and voluntary turnover
- absenteeism
- retirement rates, age, and risk
- job vacancy rates
Each spring, we publish an annual review of all benchmarks for the same key areas to inform planning for the year ahead.
The HR Insights series has been produced since October 2024.
Methodology
HR Metrics summarizes the data collected in the 2025 HR Metrics Benchmarking Quarterly Survey, which explored key HR themes such as turnover, absenteeism, recruitment, and attraction for the first quarter of business. The final section of the survey includes questions on a rotating topic. Analysis of these topics are presented in our HR Insights report. The survey is sent to human resources professionals at Canadian organizations operating in a variety of regions, sectors, and industries. All data is analyzed using R and SPSS statistical software.
