- Natural Gas Prices—Despite current low levels, the price of natural gas is forecast to expand significantly over the forecast horizon.
- Royalties—The Alberta government is considering easing royalty increases for natural gas companies. Combined with higher prices, this would lead to a gradual increase in the number of wells drilled over the medium term, providing more investment dollars and jobs.
- Productivity—Declining productivity in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin has made drilling at current prices increasingly uneconomic, limiting production and new drilling activity.
