- U.S. Housing Market—There is now concrete evidence the long-awaited recovery in the U.S. housing market has begun.
- Tightening Supplies—Large reductions in annual allowable cuts are expected in British Columbia as increases in cuts originally implemented to deal with trees killed by the pine beetle are reversed.
- Export Tax—For the first time since 2006, wood producers will not have to pay any export tax under the Canada–U.S. Softwood Lumber Agreement. Prices rose sufficiently for the sliding tax scale to reach zero in early spring.
