This quarterly survey poses ten qualitative questions regarding the business climate and investment intentions to senior officers of approximately 2,000 Canadian business organizations.
Document Highlights
In the first quarter of 2004, the Index of Business Confidence remained relatively steady at 144.8, a decline of just 1.5 index points from the fourth quarter of 2003. The index rose by 35 points over the last three quarters. The continued strength reflects the strong degree of optimism among respondents in regard to the Canadian economy, the financial position of their firms and their investment intentions. The survey was conducted throughout the month of March.
