After posting a 6.7 point jump in September, the Index of Consumer Confidence fell 1.1 points to 81.1 (2002 = 100) in October. The survey followed on the heels of a better-than-expected jobs report, and respondents indicated that they were feeling slightly more optimistic about their future job prospects.
