The February edition of Signal49 Research’s Help-Wanted Index suggests that near-term employment prospects are still uneven across the country. According to the index, near-term employment prospects are up in 11 CMAs, stable in 2, and down in 14. Employment prospects are down in the 3 Atlantic Canadian CMAs covered in this report: St. John’s, Halifax, and Saint John. Prospects are down in 3 of 5 CMAs in Quebec, and in 7 of 11 CMAs in Ontario. On the other hand, the near-term employment outlook is brightening out West. Prospects are up in Regina, Saskatoon, Abbottsford, Vancouver, and Victoria, while they are stable in Winnipeg and Calgary.
