Near-term employment prospects are upbeat or stable in most Canadian CMAs, according to Signal49 Research’s Help-Wanted Index. Nearterm employment prospects are up in 16 CMAs, stable in 3, and down in just 8. Of the eight Western Canadian CMAs covered in this report, prospects are down only in the two westernmost ones—Vancouver and Victoria. Prospects are stable in Regina and up in the rest. Eight of 11 Ontario CMAs can boast positive or stable near-term prospects, while 3 of 5 Quebec CMAs can do the same. In Atlantic Canada, prospects are up in both St. John’s and Saint John, but down in Halifax.
