- Housing starts were down in 13 of 27 markets on a year-over-year basis in November.
- The CMAs with the biggest decline in housing starts in November were Kitchener, St. Catharines–Niagara, Saint John, Kingston, and Sherbrooke.
- The decline in starts will become more widespread, given that the number of CMAs with negative short-term expectations has risen to 23.
- Over the longer term, most Ontario and Western CMAs will witness a rise in their housing markets, thanks to healthy population growth. However, starts will weaken further in the Atlantic region and most of Quebec.
