- Of the 27 CMAs covered here, 14 now have positive short-term expectations. That is up from just seven the previous month.
- CMAs with positive expectations for both the short and long term are concentrated in Ontario and Western Canada.
- Hamilton had the biggest year-over-year increase in housing starts in January—a jump of more than 200 per cent.
- The CMAs with the largest monthly declines in housing starts in January were Québec City, Halifax, Saguenay, London, and Abbotsford.
