For many years the business literature and public policy have largely treated international business and innovation as separate and distinct. However, internationalization and innovation are increasingly looked at in conjunction with one another. Studies that start out looking at internationalization end up looking at innovation and vice versa.

Although Canadian studies often stumble into these connections via the evidence, very few specifically explore these connections as part of research design. The purpose of this study is to look specifically at the way that internationalization is connected to innovation in the Canadian context.
