Signal49 Research’s Centre for the Future of Health (CFH) brings together public and private health care leaders to exchange knowledge, learn about international advancements, and explore opportunities to strengthen Canada’s capacity to develop and commercialize health innovations. CFH’s November 2016 meeting looked at the future of home and community care and how design, delivery, and support could evolve to suit the changing needs of Canadians. Through expert presentations; facilitated discussions; and a Strengths, Opportunities, Aspirations, Results (SOAR) analysis, meeting participants gained new insights into the future of home and community care in Canada.
This briefing presents the highlights of the presentations and discussions, as well as the key findings. Findings include the importance of improving health system performance through expanded capacity and modernized delivery, establishing national standards-based principles, investing in technology, and making care plans and records available to health care providers.
