Document Highlights
Manitoba’s tourism sector is turning the page on the pandemic. Most pandemic restrictions were lifted at the beginning of August, and so outdoor sports and artistic and concert events can now operate at full capacity.
According to our Travel Intentions Survey, Manitoba is not a hot destination for Canadians this year. Thus, we expect total visits to the province will expand by just 6.8 per cent, much lower than the 27.4 per cent for Canada as a whole.
Canadians want to travel within Canada this year, and domestic travel will lead tourism’s recovery in Manitoba.
Low vaccination rates around the world will continue to limit international travel. Most visits to the province from outside Canada will come from the United States.
