About

Burhan Hussein is a researcher specializing in sustainable materials, carbon capture technologies, and innovation strategy. Prior to joining Signal49 Research, he was a Lecturer in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Concordia University, where he also held an NSERC Postdoctoral Fellowship focused on advancing low-carbon solutions. His work explores the intersection of chemistry, energy systems, and innovation to support the transition to a low-carbon economy.

Earlier in his career, Dr. Hussein served as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Montreal Neurological Institute-Hospital, conducting interdisciplinary research in radiopharmaceuticals. He also worked as a Research Scientist at the Science Discovery Zone, where he supported early-stage science ventures and helped translate academic research into commercial and societal impact. In addition to his research roles, he contributes to national science policy discussions as a member of the Council of Canadian Academies expert panel on the State of Science, Technology and Innovation in Canada.
