About
Sarah Wappel is a Senior Economist on the Economic Research team. Since joining Signal49 Research in 2024, she has worked on many custom research projects for both public and private sector clients including forecasting regional macroeconomic outlooks, labour market outcomes, environmental policy analysis, and international trade patterns. With expertise in advanced econometric methods, she specializes in transforming complex, high-volume datasets into structured economic insights.
Prior to Signal49, Sarah worked at the Vancouver School of Economics’ Centre for Innovative Data in Economics Research where she aided research in identifying both recent and historical trends in global industrial policy as well as managing data for a text-based machine learning algorithm. Previous research has also included topics related to technology adoption, conflict, and behavioural economics.
