Canadian Industrial Outlook: Food Services—Winter 2017
$925.00
- Consistently Strong Growth—The food services industry is expected to outpace growth in the overall Canadian economy in 2016 for a fifth consecutive year, supported by Canadians’ increased willingness to spend on dining out.
- Intensifying Competition—Industry margins are at their lowest levels in over a decade, due to rising costs and to the fact that gains in the number of restaurants have exceeded overall population growth. With consumer spending growth set to moderate over the near and medium terms, expansion in restaurant traffic could slow, intensifying the fight for market share.
- Breakfast Traffic—Rising demand for fast and portable breakfast options has supported strong growth in restaurant breakfast traffic over the past year. Breakfast now accounts for just under one in five restaurant visits.
