Climate Change Adaptation in British Columbia: Ten Actions by Leading Organizations profiles the strategies and actions developed by 10 leading B.C. organizations to respond to changing climatic conditions. Observations include the importance of an integrated, multi-disciplinary, inclusive approach to tackling adaptation issues; the need to make scientific information more widely available to stakeholders; and the value in opening up a dialogue on expected climate impacts and adaptation strategies and actions.

Representatives from several B.C. organizations—provincial and federal government departments; the provincial museum; local universities; a research consortium; the forestry, electricity, and tourism sectors; the insurance industry; three municipalities; and a professional association—met with Signal49 Research’s Leaders’ Roundtable on Climate Change Adaptation in Vancouver on May 5–6, 2009. Twelve speakers made insightful presentations on the impressive climate change adaptation actions now under way in the province.
