The monthly Index of Consumer Attitudes is constructed from responses to four attitudinal questions posed to a random sample of Canadian households. The latest results are based on over 2,000 telephone interviews conducted in mid February 2003.

Consumer confidence slipped to 115.8 index points in February, its lowest level since December 2001.
- The fall in consumer confidence was broadly based across the country, with the Atlantic region suffering the steepest drop of 10.5 index points.
- The Prairie provinces, however, incurred the smallest decline,only 1.1 index points. Along with Quebec, they recorded the highest confidence rating across Canada.
