This quarterly survey reflects the opinions of Canada’s top forecasting organizations and their outlook for the Canadian economy.
Document Highlights
The Canadian economy will expand by 1.4 per cent this year, less than the gain of 1.8 per cent that had been anticipated in the winter.
The main factor behind the weaker outlook is a more pessimistic view on future increases in investment spending.
Increases in consumer prices will be more subdued in 2019, and this factor, among others, has led the Bank of Canada to run a more accommodative monetary policy.
