- After rebounding somewhat in 2010, growth in overnight visits to and within Canada is expected to be moderate in 2011, due partly to high fuel prices.
- Demand from emerging markets—such as China, India, and Brazil—may boost overseas visits.
- Every province expects domestic demand to increase, although weak local economies may mute this growth in much of the Maritimes.
- Slow growth in U.S. visits to Canada remains a concern, as Americans continue to adjust to new passport requirements and the strong Canadian dollar.
- Spending on tourism-related goods and services is expected to rise across Canada, due mainly to rising prices.
