About

Ian Scott joined Signal49 Research as an Economist on the Economic Research team in 2025. He contributes to custom research projects spanning macroeconomic and fiscal analysis, industrial competitiveness and innovation, transportation infrastructure, and trade policy.

Prior to joining Signal49, Ian worked as a Public Policy and Advocacy Intern at the Canadian Federation of Independent Business. He produced reports, presentations, and other materials to support the federation’s lobbying efforts. Ian also worked as a Research Assistant at the Atlantic Economic Council, where he contributed to independent research on relevant issues facing the Atlantic Canadian economy. He also held several positions while a student at Memorial University, contributing to labour economics research and policy analysis on academic and applied projects.
