- Business Investment—Although growth in investment spending on information technology equipment and software will decelerate over the forecast, it is expected to remain healthy. This is important given that this type of investment is a key driver for the industry.
- Dollar—The Canadian dollar is down from its peak and is expected to weaken gradually over the forecast period, relieving some of the competitive pressure facing the industry in both the domestic and foreign markets.
- Prices—Increased foreign competition and weaker production growth have translated into price discounting, but with the dollar weakening and industry growth expected to strengthen, prices will resume their healthy growth.
