Tariff Threats Alter Inflation Outlook

Expectations are for inflation to remain slightly above the Bank of Canada’s neutral rate and to edge upward over the next three years, to 3.6 per cent. Will the tariff war with the U.S. administration alter inflation expectations? What about the declining Canadian dollar in the face of continued tariff threats? How will this affect wages and living costs in Canada? Do we see a recession in the offing? If so, will the Bank adjust interest rates accordingly?
