Each year Canada’s largest publicly traded companies are invited to respond to the information request from the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP). Respondents disclose their carbon strategies, their corporate arrangements for oversight of climate change and risk management, their perceptions of risks and opportunities, their carbon budget, and actions under way or planned to manage the risks and seize the opportunities arising from climate change.
The Carbon Disclosure Project 2010 Canada Report highlights results from 92 respondents. This year, more respondents have high-level climate change governance arrangements in place. Climate change is also being embedded in their corporate strategies and target setting. Nearly a third of respondents have set greenhouse gas reduction targets, and respondents continue to see more opportunities than risks. Fifteen respondents have been recognized as Carbon Disclosure Leaders based on the high quality of their CDP responses. Benchmarking illustrates how Canada’s results compare with those of peer countries.
