Compensation Planning Outlook is an annual survey conducted by Signal49 Research on compensation and human resources practices in Canada. In June 2014, a questionnaire was sent to 1,878 predominantly large and medium-sized Canadian organizations operating in a variety of regions and sectors. A total of 382 respondents across Canada participated in the survey, including 81 from Alberta. According to the survey, the average pay increase for non-unionized employees in Alberta is forecast to be 3.5 per cent in 2015—continuing to outpace the projected national average of 2.9 per cent. Alberta’s economic growth prospects remain very positive.

While Alberta enjoyed a relatively strong economy for the first half of 2014, current shocks to the global energy sector will indeed have implications for talent demand and the compensation forecast for 2015.The average pay increase for non-unionized employees in the province is projected to be 3.5 per cent in 2015.
