The monthly Index of Consumer Confidence is constructed from responses to four attitudinal questions posed to a random sample of Canadian households. The latest results are based on over 2,000 telephone interviews conducted from July 29 to August 5, 2004.
Document Highlights
Consumer confidence staged a 4.6 point rebound in July, rising to 121.8 and partly reversing back-to-back monthly losses that began in April. All four components of the Index of Consumer Confidence contributed to the recovery, with consumers’ perceptions about the timing for big-ticket purchases making the strongest gain.
