The monthly Index of Consumer Confidence is constructed from responses to four attitudinal questions posed to a random sample of Canadian households. The latest results are based on over 2,000 telephone interviews conducted in mid May 2004.
Document Highlights
Consumer confidence fell in May to a level not seen since August 2003. Following little change in April, the Index of Consumer Confidence shed 5 points this month to 118.7. All four components of the index declined during the month, with consumers’ views of their future household finances taking the biggest hit.
