After a weak 2025 where consumer confidence hit a record low in March, consumer sentiment started 2026 on a sour note due to concerns about the impact of U.S. trade policy and Canada’s overall economic conditions on household finances. For the most part, Canadians are taking a cautious, wait-and-see approach until conditions become clearer.
