This latest edition of Signal49 Research’s Help-Wanted Index suggests that near-term employment prospects are still more down than up. According to the index, near-term employment prospects are up in 10 CMAs, stable in 2, and down in 15. (The two metropolitan areas with stable nearterm prospects are Sherbrooke and Ottawa-Gatineau.) Whereas in previous months employment prospects tended to be up in Eastern Canadian cities and down in Western ones, this month’s report reveals a more balanced outlook. Of the 10 CMAs with positive employment growth prospects, 6 are located in Eastern Canada and 4 are located in the West.
