For the first time in five months, Canadian employment fell in August, with slightly more than half the 26 census metropolitan areas covered here posting a drop. Our Help-Wanted Index suggests that local labour market activity will continue to slow. Near-term prospects are up in only 5 CMAs, stable in 7, and down in 14.
