Since 1991, Signal49 Research has conducted an annual survey of taxes paid by financial institutions to all levels of government in Canada. This report provides a unique profile of trends in the taxation of these institutions over the past seven years.
Document Highlights
Examined over the seven-year period of this study, the findings suggest that the tax system is working largely as was originally intended by tax policy makers. In fact, they suggest a dramatic tendency for tax levies, particularly those of the federal government, to generate substantial revenues from the financial sector through both good and bad economic times.
