This issue begins with a look at the impact that soaring energy prices are expected to have on demand for both domestic auto and air travel. According to the latest edition of Travel Markets Outlook, growth in overnight visits to and within Canada is likely to be modest. Demand is expected to come mainly from domestic and overseas travellers, while the number of U.S. visitors is expected to decline.

In Part 4 of Tackling the Tourism Labour Shortage, we look at the final forecast results for the labour shortage that the sector is expected to face from now until 2025, including a breakdown of which occupations and provinces are likely to experience the greatest shortfall. Noting the risks to the industry if the shortage is not addressed, the article puts forward several ideas for solutions that the industry could implement now to reduce the potential shortage before it escalates further.
