- Growth in overnight visits in most metropolitan markets is expected to mirror the forecast moderate growth nationwide in 2011.
- Infrastructure improvements, such as a new convention centre in Ottawa–Gatineau and an airport expansion in Winnipeg, should boost visits in certain cities.
- The strong Canadian dollar is still muting tourism growth from the United States. In some markets, additional factors—such as the cancellation of the CAT ferry service between Maine and Nova Scotia—are also dampening demand.
- Rebounding economies in Ontario and Quebec are expected to boost domestic demand in those provinces in the medium term.
