In this research, we examine online job postings data from our high-frequency labour market data (formerly Vicinity Jobs), the Model of Occupations, Skills and Technology (MOST), and two interviews with post-secondary institution leaders and educators at the University of Toronto and the British Columbia Institute of Technology.

Postings for data science skills within the Canadian market are outpacing those in overall hiring and evidencing a marked wage premium. In what regions are these trends most prevalent? Which sectors are showing the highest demand, and are the roles restricted to technology areas? What level and type of education is typically asked for, and what interpersonal qualities are consistently paired with technical fluency in these postings?
