This report, the second in a four-part research series—Healthy Brains at Work—sets out to discover the prevalence of employer-sponsored benefits and programs in Canada that address mental health at work. It reveals how these offerings differ among both employers and industries, based on a survey of 239 Canadian employers. The report explores how Canadian organizations are addressing mental health, including the guidelines and standards employers use to implement their mental health strategy. It also discusses challenges and barriers employers have encountered or are currently facing when implementing a mental health strategy or policy. Case studies describe how three organizations—Sun Life Financial Canada, NAV CANADA, and GE Canada—have developed programs and practices to better address mental health for their employees.
