Cork is Ireland’s second-largest city, and its economy relies on its pharmaceutical, high technology, and engineering sectors. At the same time, a large segment of the city’s population is made up of residents who, for various reasons, left formal education early.
In 2002, Cork City Council adopted a policy aimed at making Cork a “learning city.” This briefing looks at that initiative and explains why Cork can be a model for other communities.<>/p
