Shifting the Balance: Increasing women’s representation in STEM occupations

This research will examine the factors that attract women to, and keep them working in, STEM occupations. The number of STEM-related jobs in Canada is expected to grow over the next decade. To meet hiring needs, sectors that mainly hire men can make workplaces more welcoming and engaging for women.

What attracts employees to STEM-related occupations in male-dominated industries? What barriers do women face in these industries? What can industry leaders do to increase women’s retention?
