A Cautious Uptick in Consumer Confidence

Consumers’ confidence in their future finances and job opportunities, in November 2025, showed some improvement from October but remained significantly lower than last year.

In this issue briefing, we look at the trend in consumer confidence and whether the 2025 budget offers prospects for growing the economy and turning consumer confidence around. The 2025 budget prioritizes shielding the economy from trade uncertainties. Will it’s focus on capital investment and tax cuts to the middle class be enough to nudge consumer confidence in the right direction? Recent key rate cuts have lowered borrowing costs to support spending and investment. Can we expect this policy in combination with the 2025 budget to boost growth and jobs creation enough to cushion the economy from external disruptions and grow it at the same time?
