  • The Leading Indicator of Industry Profitability Index dropped for a second consecutive month, from a revised 107.8 in September to 107.3 in October. Driven by weak labour market performance and the rise in Canada’s corporate prime interest rate, the indicator saw its strongest decline since June of 2010.
  • Of the 49Åindustries tracked by the index, 26 saw their profitability indices decline in October. This is the second consecutive month and fifth month this year that the majority of industries have displayed negative profitability outlooks.
