Document Highlights
Energy is important to the operations of businesses and organizations. Together, they use 67 per cent of the energy consumed in Quebec. How they manage energy, therefore, has a major impact on the province’s energy consumption as a whole.
The survey shows that energy management still focuses too heavily on the operational side, even though the issue of managing energy in today’s environment is becoming an increasingly strategic one. Environmental, socioeconomic, and geopolitical constraints will have an economic impact that businesses and organizations are not fully anticipating or taking into consideration.
Energy management in Quebec affords many opportunities, of which businesses and organizations need to be better informed. The report argues that business needs and government directions must be better aligned, especially with respect to the training and energy efficiency programs needed to meet greenhouse gas reduction targets between now and 2050.
