The gaming industry is experiencing tremendous growth, and the high turnover associated with a dynamic industry can have negative consequences on productivity. In the past year, turnover has been a real issue for Ubisoft. In Montréal, Ubisoft lost approximately 33 per cent of its IT infrastructure team partly because the company was operating in a local market that was growing rapidly and putting upward pressure on salaries. Investing in retaining existing staff and replacing those who have left means having to divert resources away from game development and other productive activities.
